Obun2 was established in March 2023 as a research and development organisation in Pakistan, envisioned as a social enterprise committed to designing and delivering innovative solutions to complex development challenges. Through its work, Obun2 (obun2.com) has aimed to bridge gaps between policy, practice and impact, offering thoughtful, evidence-based approaches across a range of social sectors.
However, as the organisation evolved, it became increasingly evident that sustaining innovation and scaling meaningful initiatives required a stronger and more stable financial foundation. In a global context where development funding has become more constrained and unpredictable, reliance solely on traditional funding streams posed limitations on growth and long-term impact. This led to a strategic realisation that building an independent business arm was essential to support and sustain Obun2’s broader mission.
In response, a conscious decision was taken to establish a separate legal entity capable of operating commercially at a global level. Leveraging its emerging expertise in digital markets, particularly e-commerce, Obun2 identified an opportunity to create a business portfolio that could generate value while remaining aligned with its core principles.
Accordingly, Obun2 (LLC) was formally registered on 16 March 2026 in the United States as the organisation’s commercial arm, focused on developing and managing e-commerce ventures and other business initiatives. While operating as a distinct entity, Obun2 (LLC) carries a broader responsibility—to support, sustain and reinforce the social and development work of Obun2, ensuring that commercial success contributes to meaningful and lasting impact.
